About

ABOUT

Cashmere High School Rowing started in the 2012/13 rowing season after Physical Education and Health Teacher Mrs Ruth Anderson introduced the sport into the co-curricular program at Cashmere High School.

Inaugural crew members: Sarah Heath, Becky Tuke, Te-Arahori Potaka-Osbourne, Charlotte Holland, Danica Gwynne.

Over this time rowing at Cashmere High School Rowing has grown remarkably. Our squad number sits at around 30+ dedicated rowers and coxswains. We have an active parent committee and a fantastic coaching team who meet regularly to ensure our rowing programme continues to grow and run effectively.

Rowing at Cashmere High School prides itself on the spirit of achievement by participation, and we welcome all students who wish to participate. With an athlete-centered and coach-driven structure, we are able to provide a positive environment, where rowers are able to further develop their skills, build lifelong friendships, and have fun.

Rowing takes place from the start of Term 4 until the end of Term 1 the following year. This will also include some training at the beginning and end of the summer school holidays, with a break over the Christmas and New Year period. There will be a number of training sessions each week, mostly hosted at the Canterbury Rowing Club on Kerrs Reach.

At the 2023 Maadi Regatta, we were the 7th best school in New Zealand and 2nd best in Sculling!

Furthermore, Cashmere High School won its first ever national title when Thea Murdie, Charlotte Clatworthy, Eleri Clare, Reagan Kelly, Pippa Maze, Millie Brooks, Rose Swinburn, Karishma Baichoo + Hazel Bown in the GU15 Octpule crossed the finish line racing in lane 1.
