Emma received a National Gold Medal as well as an American Visions Medal for her sculpture 'Predestined'.
More than 100,000 students entered nearly 340,000 original works of art and writing to the 2024 Scholastic Awards. Her work was selected by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts for excellence in originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Fewer than 2,500 works received a National Medal, which places Emma within the top 8% of all submissions!
The Carthage High School chapter of the National Art Honor Society held their first annual print sale. Students made paintings that were then turned into prints. All proceeds from this sale were donated to Paws4Potter.
Paws4Potter is a 501-c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise awareness for pet cancer in local and regional communities, to provide people with the tools that they need to detect cancer earlier in their pets, and to help people understand that pet cancer is not necessarily a death sentence. Paws4Potter also raises money for the National Canine Cancer Foundation through fundraisers and donations.
Our chapter was able to donate $1,045 to their mission.

Congratulations to the following students for their placement in the 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were founded in 1923 and, for more than a century, have inspired bold ideas in creative teens throughout the country.
Entries are selected for awards without knowledge of the student’s gender, age, ethnicity, or hometown by some of the foremost leaders in the visual and literary arts. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
This year the Central New York Region had 4,375 Individual entries and 127 Art and Photography portfolios entered.
