About our Elementary programs

Elementary Music

Our curriculum provides students in all grades with experiences in the disciplined enjoyment and creation of music through a variety of approaches. We have implemented a music series called, "Spotlight On Music" in grades K-4. Students are actively involved in their music making and learning about music as they; sing songs, engage in movement activities, play Orff instruments (xylophones), recorders and a wide range of percussion instruments. They use speech and poetry as valuable learning tools, especially in rhythm activities. They actively listen to recorded music from different cultures and eras. The students create various forms of music themselves. We also incorporate cross-curricular activities through our music. Everyone works together to create a positive learning atmosphere. All students are treated as individuals and modifications are made to accommodate various learning styles and needs.

Elementary Art

The K-4 art curriculum provides students the opportunity to explore art through discovery and reflection while enhancing students' creativity to become more enriched human beings. Students gain knowledge while: creating art, learning about history and cultures, and connecting to other content areas through self-assessment. The goal of the art program is to give students an outlet to use their abilities for creation, foster self-confidence, and spark intrinsic motivation to continue a lifelong love of art.
