Welcome to Carthage's Pre-Health Interview Skills Workshop!
The goal of this workshop is to assist you in practicing and improving your graduate school interview skills in a timely manner. The schedule consists of three major sections, each with multiple parts and assignments:
Section 1: Interview Prep
Learn more about effective interview techniques by:
Participating in an information session with Dr. Brownholland, Dr. Jensen, Dr. Nickels and Haley Perez (January 12th and 14th)
Completing an online workshop and brainstorming how to answer dilemma questions (complete by January 22nd)
Participating in a communication workshop with Dr. Lynn Brownson, Chair of the Communication and Digital Media Department (January 26th or January 27th)
Brainstorm how to answer icebreakers questions and STAR questions, how to develop questions for your interviewer, and how to write a resume (Complete by January 29th)
Meet with Dr. Nickels or Dr. Jensen to reflect on and ask questions about your interview prep (February 1st through February 5th)
Section 2: Interview Practice
Submit your committee interview application (Complete by February 12th)
Practice with Big Interview by completing the pre-health course assignment (Complete by February 17th)
Give and receive critical feedback on your interview through in-person peer review (Complete by February 24th)
Meet with Haley Perez in the Aspire Center to go over your Big Interview practice (February 24th through March 5th)
Section 3: Committee Interview (Only for Those Needing Committee Letters - Pre-Med/Dental/Podiatry)
Conduct a formal interview with the Pre-Health Committee (Saturday, Marth 20th). Interviews will be 20-30 minutes long and will be with 2-4 Pre-Health Advisory Committee Members.
If you are a pre-med, pre-dental or pre-podiatry, this interview will inform the committee letter needed for admission and is mandatory.
This multi-step workshop is required for students looking to apply to medical, dental, or podiatry school in the summer of 2021 (which means you would start medical, dental, or podiatry school in the fall of 2022).
