Rationale

It is now more than sixty years since George Preston published "A Spectroscopic Study of the RR Lyrae Stars" and devised the Delta-S method to estimate RR Lyrae metallicity. Research highlights from George's career include spectroscopic studies of Chemically Peculiar stars and the search for the most metal-poor stars in the Milky Way halo. Now over two decades into "retirement" George is still working on his first love: RR Lyrae stars, with high cadence, high-S/N, high resolution spectra throughout the pulsation cycle.

In 2020 George Preston reached 90 years. Considering his many contributions to Astronomy, it is fitting that we celebrate him with a conference on a subject that continues to fascinate him.

Registration is free and we will provide free breakfast and lunch on both days. Because seating in our auditorium is limited please register early and let us know if you can no longer attend.
