"The Carmel Jazz band is a close-knit group of student musicians ranging from year 9 -12. Our Jazzband meets up every Monday mornings before school bringing all gifts and talents to the table. Mr Child is our joyful conductor who helped become the band we are today. This year, we weren't able to have as many practices as usual due to Covid but we did our best to prepare for the Annual Music Department show and Senior Prizegiving. During this evening the Jazz Band played a latin feel song, Azul, composed by Mike Shepard. Not only did we play together as a band but some Jazz band members also improvised in the solo section. Mr Child helped us gain confidence and taught us the tips and tricks to improvisation which we have been focusing on in the past few years. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Carmel Jazz band and hope that we will be able to perform more next year!"
