This course provides a hands-on introduction to everything our art program offers—a creative “appetizer” giving students a taste of each major studio area. Over the semester, students rotate through short units inspired by our upper-level courses, including 2D design, painting, clay, photography, and fashion/3D design. Projects may include pattern design, zentangles, perspective drawings, abstract and still-life painting, handbuilt clay pieces, darkroom photography, and visible mending on clothing.
This class is ideal for freshmen or anyone curious about which studio electives they may want to pursue.
We'll keep a visual journal in this class to start and end the class, and to work through the creative process.
