CHS Peer-Tutoring Network:
CHS students are recruited to volunteer their time to tutor students grades K-12. Once an application is received, Mrs. Ruark will match students based on their needs and availability. Please complete and return the application below to sruark@canfieldschools.net or drop off the CHS front office to Mrs. Ruark's attention.
Outside/Private Tutors - Occasionally, we will have community members interested in offering tutoring services. These individuals are not associated with Canfield Locals Schools and are acting as private tutors (generally at a fee for the family). We try to keep this updated as best to our ability and the availability may vary based on tutoring load of each individual.

FREE ACT PREP through Naviance! This is available to ALL students through their CHS Gmail. Click on the waffle (the 9 little dots) in the top right corner. Scroll down and click on the Naviance icon, and the program will automatically open as a single sign-on. There is no need to create a new account or password. From the home page, you can then scroll down and click on "Naviance Test Prep". From there a free ACT online test prep will open. Included in the test prep is a calendar to help prepare before the next test date, sample tests, flashcards, strategies, and reviews for all subjects.
Khan Academy: One of most useful tools for our students is an online tutoring site called Khan Academy. You will need a parent/guardian to help sign you up and to create an account. Once an account is created, the program will take you through the skills you need to work on. The program will adjust as you master the skills. There are also video lessons to help you. The website is: www.khanacademy.org
Your Local Church: Many of the churches in our school district have members (usually retired) who love to work with young people and are looking for something productive to do. You may want to consider contacting your local church office and ask if they have any members interested in tutoring your student.
Academic Development
- Students will acquire the attitudes, knowledge and skills contributing to effective learning in school and for life.- Students will complete school with the academic preparation essential to choose from a wide range of substantial post-secondary options, including college.- Students will understand the relationship of academics to the world of work and to the life at home and in the community.Delivery System:- Individual counseling: working with students one-on-one to monitor progress, set short-term goals, and plan for high school.- Mediation: collaborating with students, parents, and teachers to initiate communication, and create a team of support.- Referrals: connecting families with outside tutoring and community agencies, and working with the GMS intervention team to develop a plan to assist and support students within the classroom.
