As we receive information about scholarships, we will add them to Naviance. It is the STUDENT'S responsibility to check for updates, follow directions as stated, and abide by deadlines!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is the form that the federal government, states, colleges and other organizations use to award financial aid. Submitting it is your key to accessing grants, scholarships, work-study programs and federal student loans.
ALL Students should complete the FAFSA REGARDLESS of whether you think you will apply for federal aid or not! Colleges use this to determine financial aid packages and many scholarships require it for eligibility to apply for scholarships!
The FAFSA is FREE - if you're on a website that wants to charge you a fee that is NOT the FAFSA (it's a scam).
You will need to resubmit your FAFSA every year (opens October 1st).

There are a variety of methods to help pay for your college education:
Federal Student Aid - The federal government offers financial aid programs, many of which do not require repayment. To apply, fill out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
State Student Aid - Even if you're not eligible for federal aid, you can still apply for financial aid from your state. Contact your state grant agency for more information on eligibility and deadlines.
Your College or Career School - Many institutions offer financial aid from their own funds. They may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid. To find out what might be available to you, contact your school’s financial aid office.
Organizations, Nonprofits, or Private Companies - You may qualify for merit-based or financial need-based grants or scholarships. Some may accept your FAFSA information, but most have their own applications. This form of aid may be available for students who do not qualify for federal aid.
Other Resources from the Federal Government - Besides aid from the U.S. Department of Education, the federal government offers other financial aid programs.
Veterans and Military Service Member Benefits - Find many education programs for past and present service members and their families.
Student Loans - Learn about federal and private student loans.
Savings Plans - Many state governments have created 529 plans with tax advantages that make it easier for families to save for their child’s education. Visit collegesavings.org to learn about the plans available in each state.
Contact the Mahoning Valley College Assistance Program (PLYMC), a group helping kids with a variety of things, including FAFSA paperwork, ACT registration, and more. PLYMC is delighted to be partnering with the Mahoning Valley College Access Program (MVCAP), an organization that provides services to students in grades 6-12 and families with the goal of providing them with resources and tools that enable students to confidently take the next step toward their career goals.
One-on-one or family sessions are available in-person or virtually for education about financial aid for college or vocational training, guidance in completing the student or parent portion of the FAFSA financial aid application, and assistance with FAFSA verification if selected to verify. Students may also receive guidance as they research best fit colleges or technical schools, identify and apply for scholarships, complete requirements for enlistment in the military, search for employment opportunities, create resumes, and more.
