There are many comprehension questions that get the students thinking about their reading. The questions primarily connect to fiction texts but there are also nonfiction ones as well. When students are asked to write an "extended response" to their reading and answer an RRQ, they will do it the format of RACER. This shows them how to structure their answers while including all the information needed to show they understand what they've read.
Keep in mind... each of my students read a different book ALL THE TIME. I allow my students to have a choice chapter book. This means I can be multi-tasking up to 60 different books at one time. Using the RRQ questions helps me to follow each student and what they are reading.
