These strategies will guide the beginning of the year. One common theme is "Reading is Thinking." This means that as readers we are constantly thinking about what we read. These strategies help us to retain the knowledge we need from what we read. By ACTIVELY thinking about our reading, students can then understand and talk about their books. We learn these strategies in the form of post its. Therefore we are always reading and writing about what we've read.
Basically... we read and write ALL YEAR LONG. I want to create a lifelong reader and writer in the students by opening up their minds to a world of reading.
