For the first week of Distance Learning, students will receive a printed packet, available in English and Spanish. These packets will be distributed by grade level. Each grade level assignment is the same for each elementary school. One packet covers a week’s worth of at-home learning.
Elementary packets can be picked up at any elementary school from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, April 10 or on Monday from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. There will be no online learning component during the first week of Distance Learning for K-6 students. We are working on a method to deliver packets when our buses deliver meals, however, that is not an option for the first week.
Teachers will connect with each student to support this learning. As we move forward, online elements will be added and students will have an opportunity to access assignments through Google Classroom. We will provide more information when all teachers complete training and are ready to use the platform.
Canby School District will not be utilizing any video conferencing tools to conduct live instruction. Instead, it will be delivered through printed materials, email, phone calls, and Google Classroom. Some staff may include video instruction, but it will be recorded and will not be delivered in real time. Therefore, students will have the flexibility to complete assignments at a time that works best for them during the school day.
