VM Ware
Remote Access uses software called VMware View that allows you to connect to a windows computer at the school district remotely from any computer or tablet on the Internet. The computer you will connect to is configured just like one that you would find in any of our computer labs with most of the software you would normally use.
You can connect with your web browser (use the Remote Access button) which will work for most uses.
OR
You can download a client for your device and connect with it. The client will give you USB connectivity for Windows and the Mac and a little better picture and sound quality.
**You can also download the Remote Access client onto your personal device for easier and more dynamic use of your school desktop.
1. Determine the type of Windows Operating System you are using, 32-bit version or 64-bit version. To do this go to your computer Control Panel, click on System.
2. Once you have determined your system type, you are ready to download the Horizon View Client. Click the Download Client button (found on our website).
3. Once there, click the Go to Downloads link that corresponds to your operating system.
4. You will be taken to a second page to verify the client version. Verify that the latest version is selected, click the Download.
5. Once the file has been downloaded, open it to install the VMware Horizon View Client.
6. Once the installation begins, follow the prompts to install the View Client onto your computer.
7. The Default View Connection Server is: view.canandaiguaschools.org
8. Continue to Install and Finish.
9. Once installed, double click VMware View Client to launch the application.
10.Enter your User Name and Password (your school login).
11.Select Canandaigua from the Domain drop-down menu. Then click Login.
12.Select your desktop (Canandaigua City School District is your normal desktop).
13.When you are finished working on your school desktop, select Start and Log Off to exit VMware View.
1. Download the Horizon View Client. Click the Download Client button (Found on our website).
2. Click the Go to Downloads link that corresponds to your operating system.
3. Click Agree on the License Agreement Screen.
4. Drag the VMware View Client to your Applications folder.
5. Navigate to your Applications folder and Drag VMware View Client to the Dock for easy access.
6. Click onto VMware View Client and click Open.
7. Click on the Add Server Cloud icon. Enter Connection Server: view.canandaiguaschools.org.
8. Enter your Username and Password (your school login). Then click Login.
9. Select your desktop (Canandaigua City School District is your normal desktop).
10.When you are finished working on your school desktop, select Start and Log Off to exit VMware View.
