To reduce the risk to individuals, CCS will enforce the following mitigation measures before and during school activities.
All face coverings should be appropriate for the school setting as with any dress code
requirement.
November 17, 2020
Campbell County Students, Parents, and Staff,
On November 13, 2020, Governor Northam amended Executive Order 67 and Executive order 63. These actions increased restrictions on private and government activities in response to increased Covid-19 transmission rates throughout the Commonwealth. Executive Order 63 requires that all individuals age 5 and older wear a cloth face covering, as described and recommended by the CDC, inside buildings. This will require that our students and staff always remain masked while inside their school.
There are several exemptions to mask use:
· While eating or drinking.
· Individuals exercising or using exercise equipment.
· Any person who is playing a musical instrument, when wearing a mask or face covering would inhibit the playing of the instrument (e.g., wind instrument), if at least 10 feet of physical distancing can be maintained from other persons, whether the rehearsal or performance is indoors or outdoors.
· Any person who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the face covering without assistance.
· Any person seeking to communicate with the hearing impaired and for which the mouth needs to be visible.
· When temporary removal of the face covering is required to receive educational services.
· Persons with health conditions or disabilities that prohibit wearing a face covering. Adaptations and alternatives for individuals with health conditions or disabilities will be considered whenever possible.
· Staggered short term mask breaks are allowed.
Campbell County Public Schools will teach and encourage students to implement this order and will continue to promote hygiene and physical distancing daily to decrease the spread of Covid-19
They have recently had close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19 or who have been directed to isolate by a health care provider due to suspected COVID-19. This includes people who previously had COVID-19 and people who have taken an antibody test and have antibodies to the virus.
Who is a close contact?
You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes.
You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19.
You had direct physical contact with the infected person.
You shared eating or drinking utensils with the infected person.
The infected person sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you.
CCS will teach and reinforce hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and increase monitoring to ensure adherence among students and staff. If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used.
Encourage staff and students to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow if no tissue is available. Used tissues should be thrown in the trash and hands washed immediately with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used.
CCS will promote healthy hygiene behaviors by providing adequate supplies, including soap, hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol, paper towels, tissues, disinfectant wipes, cloth face coverings (as feasible) and no-touch trash cans.
CCS will post signs in highly visible locations (e.g., school entrances, restrooms) that promote everyday protective measures and describe how to stop the spread of germs (such as by properly washing hands and properly wearing a cloth face covering.).
CCS will inform staff, students, and families about behaviors that prevent the spread of COVID-19
Quarantine is used to keep someone who might have been exposed to COVID-19 away from others. Quarantine helps prevent spread of disease that can occur before a person knows they are sick or if they are infected with the virus without feeling symptoms. People in quarantine should stay home, separate themselves from others, monitor their health, and follow directions from the VDH
You were within 6 feet of someone for at least 15 minutes who is COVID-19 positive
You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19
You had direct physical contact with the person (touched, hugged, or kissed them)
You shared eating or drinking utensils
They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you
You were in close contact with a person infected with COVID-19 within 48 hours of their confirmed positive test.
Quarantine lasts 14 days from exposure regardless of whether symptoms develop.
CCS wishes to maintain a healthy school and a healthy community. CCS is dedicated to ensuring that any student exposed to COVID-19 follow quarantine protocols to slow or stop the spread of the disease within our community while maintaining a continuity of learning and social supports. During the COVID-19 pandemic, alternative means of educational access are available during a student’s quarantine.
