What is the difference between remote learning and blended learning? Phased Learning Plan
Remote learning is when students are only working at home virtually Monday through Friday using CCPS issued devices, and teachers will provide instruction as well as lessons and activities daily. Blended learning is a combination of face-to-face and remote learning. Students are still engaged in learning five days a week.
Will my student be able to continue with their elective classes (band, art, agriculture)?
Yes, each school’s schedule takes into consideration and includes elective courses for their students.
9. When can we expect to know which 2 days our child will be attending in order to plan? (updated 8/17/2020)
Schools are working to finalize schedules and transportation needs, and it is our goal to communicate schedules the week of August 24. It is imperative that you have gone into Parent Portal to make any updates and have completed the transportation survey.
10. We do not have internet service where we live. How are students going to complete work at home if the household does not have the access?
Internet is required for students participating in the Campbell County Online Learning Academy. For students attending school in person and have to complete work outside of school, work will be provided that allows for students to complete it with or without the Internet. Lessons may be downloaded for students before they leave school, or students may be given a flash drive with lessons to complete on their issued device.
11. Will there be a back to school event or orientation to meet the teacher? (updated 8/17/2020)
Students in Pre-K and K will have the opportunity to attend an on-site orientation (and dates/times will be announced by schools.)
Other back to school events will be conducted virtually, and individual schools will communicate schedules.
12. If you start school in person, can you move to the Campbell County Online Learning Academy if you no longer want to send your student to school?
We understand that many parents are concerned about the health and safety of their children, and for this we offer the Campbell County Online Academy. After the August 13 enrollment deadline for the beginning of the 20-21 school year, the next enrollment window will be three weeks prior to the end of the first nine weeks.
Students attending school in person must follow the schedule that the school has assigned.
13. How will AP courses be conducted for the 20-21 school year?
AP courses will be a compilation of in person and remote instruction as determined by the students’ course schedules. AP tests will be administered during the windows that are set by the College Board. CCPS will follow College Board guidance as updates and changes become available. See the College Board site for additional details.
14. When we will know more about having to take the W!SE test that juniors would have taken last year that is required for graduation?
The division has identified content deficits from the spring 2020 semester, and teachers developed a learning plan to address missed content and test prep. An optimal window to administer the W!SE assessment will be determined in the fall, and details will be communicated at that time.
