August: Create personal annual Career/Academic/Social goals and record in My Journal under My Plan
September: Review the College Planning Timeline and add any schools of interest to the portfolio using the School Selector Tool. Refine your Post-secondary plan.
October: Complete the Financial Aid Selector to explore financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
- Review list of saved schools and complete admission application if you have not done so already
- Apply for a FAFSA ID
- Complete the FAFSA
November: Research careers of interest in the current job market
December: Revisit your annual Career/Academic/Social goals in My Journal under My Plan that were recorded in August. Reflect: How did you meet these goals and what goals/expectations do you want to set for the coming trimester.
January: Update Hobbies and Interests, Extracurricular Activities, Awards & Certificates, Work Experience, Volunteer experiences and Personal Skills and abilities in My PLAN.
February: Revisit the Financial Aid Selector to explore financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
March: Update Resume either in Career Cruising or on your own. SAVE this somewhere for you future use.
April: Reflect on career preparation experiences throughout high school in the My Journal section of Career Cruising. Reflect: Over the years in high school, what have you done (examples: job shadowing, attended career fairs, etc.) to help prepare YOU to take the next steps in your life. Are you ready for what’s next for you? Why or why not?
- Participation in school sponsored Career Fair (twice during their high school years)
May: Transfer Career Cruising portfolio to personal email account.
