Course Description: The band will meet 5 days a week, either marching band, concert band, pep band, depending on the time of year. Various styles of music will be explored. Emphasis will be given to: maintenance/care of instrument; rehearsal technique; understanding of musical forms, styles and symbols; expand development of all phases of musicianship; and expand ability to be sensitive to each other as musicians. Concert/Performance attendance is mandatory. The number of concerts/performances varies from year to year.
MIXED CHORUS (2 semesters)

Course Description: The choir meets 5 times a week. Literature is easy to medium difficulty. Special emphasis will be given to correct singing techniques and basic musicianship, performance etiquette, basic music theory and history. There will be an opportunity to participate in solo/ensemble contest as well. Concerts and performance attendance is mandatory. The choir performs approximately 3-5 times per school year. State & local eligibility must be maintained. Students are eligible to audition for select choir after one year in mixed choir.
CONCERT CHOIR (2 semesters)

Prerequisite: Audition Selection, two semesters in Mixed Chorus.
Course Description: The choir meets 5 times per week. Advanced 4 part singing of various music literature from sacred, secular, jazz, and popular music, some foreign language pieces, all-state level repertoire, and ACapella singing. We will also focus on performance etiquette, basic music theory and history. There are opportunities for honor choirs, solo/ensemble contest, and All-State auditions. Concerts and performance attendance are mandatory. Concert Choir participates in 5-7 performances a year. State & local eligibility must be maintained.
