Data Mining is an area within Skyward that lets users create various reports based on most system fields. If, for example, an administrator needed a quick report on active 3rd grade students that are female, and receiving free and reduced lunch, data mining would be your "go-to" option. The system allows the user to create a data mining report with as many (or as few) data points as needed. In this case for example, we would want:
Student name
Grade
Gender
F/R Status
Once these data points have been selected, the field ranges can be set to only capture 3rd grade, gender of female, etc... Once the report is built, the system will automatically generate a report of just those students that meet these criteria.
Another common, yet simple data mine would be running student name + grade + date of birth, which will create a "Birthday List" file for a school that announces birthdays during morning announcements.
These are some very simple examples. Data mining is a very robust tool that can generate very detailed reports.
