An effective and well-designed integrated systems application is critical for Calhoun Intermediate School District and the districts it supports. Skyward has ensured us that the Calhoun ISD and local district staff members will have the information and resources needed to sustain and carry out their educational goals. We are confident that Skyward’s integrated Student Management Suite will address these goals. All proposed modules include integrated reporting capabilities to minimize the need to perform additional data entry. Highlighted areas include:
Entirely web based system allowing secure access from anywhere/anytime.
Streamlined navigation (menu structure) that allows access to any feature with no more than 2 clicks from anywhere in the system.
Portal (one access point into the system) customizable per user and allows users to start with any vital information, as well as allowing quick access to their “Favorites.”
Instructional staff can perform all business tasks right from the daily lesson planner; including seeing the lesson plan for each class, taking attendance, and accessing the grade book.
Skyward Family Access & Skyward Student Access
Parents see all their students automatically
Real-time student information online
Subscribe to automatic email notifications
Parent-Staff communications are not only streamlined, but automatically tracked. Administrators are able to get reports on who made the contact, what the specific message was, and any follow-up.
Allows administration to set a policy that shows teacher comments and grades at a specific time (example: 5 days after posting window) – ensuring clear communication with parents and providing grades at a specific time for all kids.
Seamlessly connected to Skyward’s Student Management System.
Automated grade posting for mid-term, term, and semester report cards.
E-mail progress reports directly to parents and post assignments to Family Access
Work directly with students; online testing (correlated with district curriculum standards) will be a great enhancement by allowing teachers to conduct on-line assignments and testing with automatic grading that is integrated with the teacher's grade book and can update students via e-mail immediately (optional).
Seamlessly connected to Skyward’s Student Management System.
Direct posting of grades for report cards, progress reports, and Family Access
The standards gradebook is a fully functional gradebook in and of itself (not just a part of a traditional secondary gradebook) allowing instructors to create tasks, quizzes, tests and even weight them.
Standards
Can assign a grad year to standard sets. In the event that the math standards change starting with this year’s freshman class, as an example.
Ability to define and display a District description. Helping to bridge the gap between common language and State language.
Allows the instructor to create a daily lesson plan (outline, notes, tasks, objectives, even link to which standards are being covered) in the system.
Curriculum staff can review the lesson plans with a sub or use it as a mentoring tool by going over with the teacher.
You have the ability to map the lesson plan to a day.
District can allow sharing of lesson plans amongst teachers and buildings. This would allow a department chair to create a detailed lesson plan and then share it with all of the staff
Instructor can take the form/template that was created and complete the components, like filling in the objectives for the lesson, what assessments will be involved, identify what standards you are working on, and even create gradebook assignments right from the lesson plan.
From the lesson plan scheduler you have shortcuts that link to the gradebook, allow you to take attendance, etc.
Create "watch lists" that the system will automatically keep track of for kids; including things like: attendance patterns, health (failed vision or hearing test, pregnancy, etc), failing grade on assessments. This puts the student on a watch list that can alert appropriate staff for review to help kids from falling through the cracks.
Clearly track status, intervention steps taken, success, or RTI exit code.
Create custom forms to be completed that collect district information in a referral form. This includes the ability to attach supporting electronic documentation - like standardized tests you can create in digital media and attach to the student for RTI purposes.
Alert the appropriate staff the instant a referral is completed.
Clearly track and report (including family access portal) indicators. This includes the ability to link classroom assignments/assessment as well as standardized assessments to the RTI module that will show progress.
Create an indicator/flag for all staff (that may not be part of the intervention) that the student is active in the RTI process.
Create Watch List items for students scoring below a certain level on the MEAP or other district assessments.
Summarize data on a single student or across the district to understand what RTI interventions are working and when.
Allows staff to clear a student off of the watch list until the next occurrence if you wish.
Basic data mining can be done and reports generated with relative ease.
Many areas provide detailed lists that can be filtered based on user needs – filters can be saved and even shared among users.
Custom Attendance Letters can be generated based on multiple codes/criteria, letters can be tracked (when the letter was sent and to whom) and can even trigger Behavior referrals if certain thresholds are met.
Attendance reporting includes automated notices via e-mail and messaging (optional).
Automated e-mail can be generated by any administrator or teacher.
Teacher Tracking - Summary information on instructional staff performance for teacher evaluations.
Discipline incidents can be reported using a customized form right from the teacher.
Many custom forms can be created easily by the users, and they can be used not only for reporting but to assist in the enrollment process or other areas where data input is required.
Publish a form in family access that allows a parent to review and “suggest” changes to contact or demographic information relieving the burden of sending home all information for review.
Create forms that users/teachers/etc. can complete and submit electronically. Just a few examples might be; completing district specific on-line registration forms, electronic sign off on the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), or requesting a parking permit.
Forms can be multi or single; meaning if it is multiple the student could complete multiple of these rather than just editing the form.
Forms can use pre-populated or data validation (drop down) fields and utilize skyward fields.
