Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are licensed using Creative Commons so they are freely available educational materials, which can be modified, updated, or even used piecemeal as needed by educators. Use as much or as little as you need - or even remix several into your own unique activity!

Resources for Your District

  • OER Options for District Adoption: These are full-course openly licensed resources for districts interested in exploring OER options when considering core instructional materials for district adoption.

  • OSPI Continuous Learning Resource Suggestions: In response to school closures due to COVID-19, OSPI content experts have curated a selection of links to external organizations providing high-quality online educational materials – courses, lessons, videos, physical and outdoor activity suggestions, etc. Please note that in many cases, these resources are free to use online but are not openly licensed for wide scale reuse and adaptation.

  • CK-12: Openly licensed FlexBooks (take and modify your own digital book), adaptive practice, simulations, study guides, and PLIX (Play, Learn, Interact & eXplore)

  • OER Commons: public digital library of open educational resources. Explore, create, and collaborate with educators around the world to improve curriculum.

  • CTE Online: CTE Online is brought to you by the Career and College Transition Division at the California Department of Education and includes projects, lessons, pathways and outlines for CTE programs.
