The Daniel E. Offutt III Wood Shop is a fully equipped, open-access shop available to all Ringling students, faculty, and approved staff. The Wood Shop has all the equipment needed to make anything from stretcher bars to fine furniture and a helpful staff to answer your questions and offer assistance using all the tools.

All users are required to complete a safety training before using the Wood Shop. Trainings are valid for one calendar year from the date completed.
To begin the training, first fill out the Wood Shop User Agreement Form, linked below.
Once you've completed the agreement form, you can sign up for an in-person session. If you don't see a session that works for your schedule, email makerspace@c.ringling.edu and we will try to accommodate you.
Additional training is required to use the CNC router. Contact makerspace@c.ringling.edu to schedule a CNC router training. Please note that you must have completed the wood shop training before doing the CNC training.
The Wood Shop is open to all authorized Ringling College of Art + Design students and faculty.
Staff may make a written request for special permission from the Vice President for Academic Affairs to use the facilities for a specific project for a specific period of time.
Continuing education students may use the facilities only during their scheduled class times.
Upon arrival at the studio, you will be asked to sign in and your authorization status will be checked before you begin working.
Users are required to bring their own materials for use in the Wood Shop. Small quantities of consumables, such as glue, sandpaper, and fasteners, are provided free of charge.
Some materials can be harmful to the equipment and/or the people in the Wood Shop. A list of approved, conditional, and prohibited materials can be found here.
Only approved materials can be used on the CNC router. A list of approved materials for the CNC can be found here.
