Google Meet - Create Breakout Groups

This page is intended to give you two different ways to create breakout rooms for your meetings and/or classes using Google Meet. There are two different methods, so in the series of videos, you'll see the two different ways. Decide for yourself which one will better serve your needs.

Breakout Groups - Video 1.webm

Option #1

In this first video, find out how to create a set of breakout rooms where you are in ALL of the rooms. It's a chaotic mess, but it's the closest thing to a classroom you'll experience during remote learning.

Breakout Groups - Video 3.webm

Option #2

This second video explains how to create permanent breakout group meeting rooms, so you can send students to them, and you can move from group to group, only being in one meeting room at a time.

Breakout Groups - Video 2.webm

This third video explains how to use a URL shortening service (TinyURL) to help people more easily access your permanent breakout group meeting rooms. This one is not required to get your meeting rooms to work, and only proposes one solution. There are many more solutions/ideas than this one, though - choose a solution that works best for your workflow!
