What is the “Big Cheese”?
Each week, one Kindergartner is named the “Big Cheese," which is essentially our version of a Star of the Day. When your child is the “Big Cheese” he or she will have the opportunity to share a special poster with photographs that show important people, activities and experiences they've had. Students will present their posters to their classmates and will share a special item they've brought from home (ie: show and tell). They may also share a special treat with their classmates (optional) if they choose.
We welcome families to join us for this special event and hope you will add your child's date to your calendar so you can make plans to come.
You can find your child’s “Big Cheese" day and time under their teacher's name on the Big Cheese Information tab.
How can I help my student prepare for their Big Cheese presentation?
Help your child create a photograph medium sized poster collage with pictures of his/her life.
You can decide how many photos to include (usually 2-3 family photos, 1-2 vacation photos, 1-2 extracurricular activity photos, 1-2 pictures of pets, first day of school photo. Please have them be a part of the process of choosing the photos! They will need to know who is in each picture and where they were when it was taken.
Help your child choose some of his/her favorite things to share. These could include stuffed animals, books, toys, etc.
