Hooray for the Big Cheese!
Big Cheese Information and FAQ's
What is the “Big Cheese”?
Each week, one Kindergartner will be the “Big Cheese!" When your child is the “Big Cheese” he/she will have the opportunity to invite you and your family to our classroom (either virtually or hopefully in person soon) and share a poster with fun and interesting things about their life. They may also bring a stuffed animal, a toy or a favorite book to share. Typically, but completely optional, once students have finished presenting, they may provide a special snack/treat to share with their classmates (please provide individual portions such as mini cupcakes, a cookie, granola bar, clementine orange - ie: not a whole cake).
You can find your child’s “Big Cheese" day and time on your teacher's Big Cheese tab.
What do I need to do to help my child prepare for their Big Cheese day?
Help your child create a photograph medium sized poster collage of his/her life.
You can decide how many photos to include, but here are some helpful hints:
A family photo; 1-2 photos with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins; 2-3 photos of family vacations and/or holidays; 1-2 photos of extracurricular activities (soccer, swimming, ballet, music, climbing, etc.); 1 photo of pet; 1 photo from the first day of school.
Help you child practice presenting their poster. Make sure they know who is in each photo and where they were when it was taken.
Help your child choose some of his/her favorite things to share. These could include stuffed animals, books, toys, etc.
