Black History Month Featured Artist

This slide show introduces students to a famous African American artist. Internationally celebrated artist, teacher, author, and activist, Faith Ringgold is best known for her painted story quilts – art that combines painting, quilted fabric and storytelling. Students will listen to stories, watch videos, and make art inspired by Faith Ringgold.  

Students can learn a variety of techniques for soft chalk pastels and for oil pastels.  Click and watch a variety of video tutorials to inspire their next projects.
