Hello, families!
Next week is our last week of school before Winter Break. It is sure to be one filled with lots of fun and memories!
We have been learning and sharing about the holiday traditions that we have here in the United States, as well as those in Canada, Mexico, France, Italy, and Sweden. The students are learning that everyone’s family is unique and celebrates holidays in different ways! As the culminating project for this unit, the first-grade classes will host a Cultural Lunch IN PLACE OF our Winter Party on December 20th. We are still looking for more families to provide food from different cultures for the first graders to enjoy during our Holidays Around the World Lunch (Please NO items with nuts). Keep in mind that the food does NOT have to be full-sized servings, elaborate, and homemade! You can sign up to bring items for this fun event at HelpAtSchool.org under the parties tab. THANK YOU!!

Important Reminders
- "Ugliest Holiday Wear Day" at Birch Elementary!
- Clean out your closets for the "Ugliest Holiday Wear Day" at Birch Elementary! It's happening Friday, December 20th....ugly sweaters, holiday headbands, and light-up necklaces are just a few examples....be creative, the uglier the better! This will be an all-inclusive school event for students and staff!
- 1st Grade “Holidays Around the World Party”
- Friday, 12/20 from 12:30 - 1:10 pm
*Note- K, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades have other times for their party.*
- Winter Break - No School
- December 21st - January 6th
- Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 7th!

Hola familias!
La próxima semana es nuestra última semana de clases antes de las vacaciones de invierno. ¡Seguramente será uno lleno de mucha diversión y recuerdos!
Hemos estado aprendiendo y compartiendo sobre las tradiciones navideñas que tenemos aquí en los Estados Unidos, así como las de Canadá, México, Francia, Italia y Suecia. ¡Los estudiantes están aprendiendo que la familia de todos es única y celebra las fiestas de diferentes maneras! Como proyecto culminante para esta unidad, las clases de primer grado organizarán un almuerzo cultural. EN LUGAR de nuestra fiesta de invierno el 20 de diciembre. Todavía estamos buscando más familias para proporcionar alimentos de diferentes culturas para que los estudiantes de primer grado disfruten durante nuestro almuerzo de vacaciones alrededor del mundo (por favor, NO artículos con nueces). ¡Tenga en cuenta que la comida NO tiene que ser porciones grandes, elaboradas y caseras!
