Students in Butte Falls attend the Natural Resource Center once a week in their science class. Lessons are all place-based and aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards that students are learning in their classes. All of these can be adapted to other outside groups. One of the electives that students who attend Butte Falls High School can take is a basic construction class. This class is an unconventionally designed class to help students to learn how to complete different pertinent interdisciplinary trade projects around the Natural Resource Center. For example, during the fourth quarter of the 2022-2023 school year, students worked on building a complete bathroom facility (including wall framing, plumbing, and electrical). In addition to earning high school credit, students are also eligible to earn a stipend for their work. Below are some pictures of the bathroom project.
