For the first and fourth quarters of the 2023-2024 school year, there is an elective class being taught at the Natural Resource Center that offers students real work experience in helping to develop the area into outdoor learning spaces. This has been taught by high school science teacher Ben DeCarlow and high school social science teacher Cy Carrigan.
Additionally, during the 3rd quarter of this year, there was a fire safety class co-taught by Jennifer Payne of SOFRC and Ben DeCarlow.
In previous years, there has also been a unique elective offered at the Natural Resource Center: Master Planning. This class was be co-taught by Ben DeCarlow and Heather Armstrong, School Improvement Specialist for the SOESD. This class is designed to help interested students to focus and be involved in the big picture of the NRC. There will also be some continued time for students to continue focus on their individual projects from the first quarter.
