Although Term 5 has been short, Year 3 have managed a lot of exciting learning. We have started our new topic on 'Ancient Egypt'. We have learnt about the social hierarchy in Egypt and the importance of the River Nile in developing the Egyptian civilisation. As part of our topic, we have read 'Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx' where we have followed Marcy's journey through Egypt to save her father. We have written our own riddles, story endings, and information texts, using the book to help us. In Art, we created a collage based on Ancient Egypt and in D.T. we have created our own Ancient Egyptian scrolls, ready to write some hieroglyphics next term! In Science, we have been learning about plants and we have been growing our own plants in class to observe how quickly they grow. We are very excited to keep learning about Ancient Egypt in Term 6 which will include a school trip!Â
