California Education Code, Section 52164.1 (a) contains legal requirements which direct schools to determine the language(s) spoken in the home of each student. The HLS form is designed to assist with the identification process.
Home Language Survey (HLS) Provided in English, Spanish, and Armenian
Monitor student work, particularly reading and writing, for students that can be reclassified using the most recent ELPAC score received from the spring assessment (must have overall score of 4).

Entering ELD Matrices in School City (not done during Distance Learning)
We can process at any time during the year but generally happens at the end of a trimester with recent grades.

Language Proficiency (ELPAC=4)
Comparison of Performance in Basic Skills (reading & writing)
Teacher Input (mostly 3s)
