In this section, you will find important annual district information regarding our English Language Learners and the English Language Development Program.

The information is organized by trimester for Elementary and by semester for Secondary.

In the state of California, over 1 million public school pupils, or one in five children in kindergarten through grade twelve (K-12), are identified as English Learners (ELs).

Over the last five years, Burbank Unified between 10-11% of our students were identified as English Learners (ELs).

The District’s responsibility is to assist English Learners to attain English proficiency and develop high levels of academic achievement.

To reach this goal, the District has adopted a Master Plan for English Learners that delineates how students are identified for this program.

The Master Plan also provides direction and support for the manner in which instructional programs will be implemented to assist students.

Here you will find guides, documents, and resources (such as sample ELPAC scores sheets, ELD matrix instructions and grading guidelines) that are organized sequentially by trimester. These are the types of resources that your ELD Specialist would send to you on an annual basis.
