Magic's Media Mountain

Michael Phillips was born in Brooklyn and came to Binghamton to attend college at SUNY Binghamton. While in Binghamton, SUNY-B changed its name several times, and his parents moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts. He tracked down his parents and graduated from the institution that had become Binghamton University, adding to his media collection that began in Brooklyn. He earned the nickname Magic when someone was impressed with his ability to quickly locate a specific VHS tape from a collection of hundreds when requested. The radio show allows him to justify (in his own mind) the collection that has been amassed over several decades.

In keeping with The Bundy Museum's mission to highlight local history, this show features concert Recordings Of Indeterminate Origin (ROIO) by national and local artists that could have been attended by our radio audience by walking out their front door or taking a short road trip. The focus is to bring a different act every week. Magic's curated collection built over decades can sustain that for a couple of years while covering different genres and venues large and small. Current tour schedules may also affect these choices in order to highlight what listeners may anticipate if they attend upcoming shows.
