Derek Scott

a.k.a. D Scott

D. (Derek) Scott, as his show name suggests, is originally from Compton, California. His formative years musically were the 1970s, and his first jazz love was fusion. Derek is old enough to have worked in a popular L.A. record shop until he  moved to Marin County in Northern California where he sold stereo equipment to many Bay Area-based artists, including Carlos Santana and Narada Michael Walden. D is a retiree from the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, where he lived for 18 years before moving to Broome County in 2018. D is a lifelong basketball player, a high school multisport referee , and a Binghamton University Art Museum volunteer. Of course he is also guardian to the coolest dog in the galaxy, his Black Lab, Onyx.
