Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship Services

Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship is located on the third floor of Bertrand Library. DP&S staff are committed to collaborating with faculty and staff to enrich the experiences of learning, teaching and research at Bucknell. Forming such collaboration takes a variety of methods depending on your role at Bucknell and the specific needs of your project.

Read on for a description of the work we do. See our Showcase for examples of collaborations with students and faculty.

DP&S staff work with faculty to support specific tools and engage in conversations about specialized course or research projects to better match our technology choices with our campus’ academic practices.

Some areas we offer consulting services include:- Digital scholarship projects- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the classroom and for exploratory investigations and research- Digital and multimodal media projects- Assignment planning and rubric development- Planning in-class workshops to train students in relevant tools and methodologies- Instructional design for blended learning or flipped classrooms- Use of our Learning Management System, Moodle

  • Student Consultants - We hire multimedia consultants to assist in producing helpful videos, monitor and assist in the library's digital video editing lab and work one on one with students needing help in producing multimedia. See the footer below for more information.

CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION

  • In-class training – Faculty who are planning an assignment using technology can request in-class training on technologies for their students. Some of the past technologies for which Digital Pedagogy & Scholarship has done in-class trainings include GIS, video production and editing, audio podcasting, and blog writing using WordPress.

SCHOLARLY RESEARCH ASSISTANCE

  • Research Fellows - Library & IT invites rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors to apply for a competitive fellowship to develop an independent digital scholarship project. This program is open to students from all divisions and colleges at the University. Broadly defined, digital scholarship entails research that is made possible by digital technologies, or that takes advantage of technology to ask and answer questions in new ways.

As a fellow, students will learn to use digital tools and methodologies, and apply them to a digital research project of your design. Library & IT staff will mentor you through the process of identifying a research question, understanding research methodologies, and discovering resources, such as locally housed library and archival collections, that will support your project. You will be creating a dynamic digital resource rather than a static website. We are particularly interested in projects that engage with the Bucknell or local community. You will work independently and collectively with a small cohort of your peers to understand and participate in a community of practice.

Applications typically are due by late February in the Spring term.
