The Zones of Regulation
Teaching kids to have self control is one of the most important character traits that we can teach our kids. Experts believe that kids who master self-regulation become masters of their learning, are more critical thinkers, and make healthier choices; and the benefits are life-long. This is why, at the Primary Building, we will be spending time laying the foundation of positive self-regulatory behavior in order to equip our students with the tools that are necessary to help them be successful throughout their lives.

Buckeye Junior High promotes SEL throughout its building daily. Staff encourages students to follow the Emotional Intelligence graph above. In addition, through planned 15-minute SEL lessons put together by Junior High teachers, our students are getting regular guidance in their homerooms on self-regulation, social skills, motivation, empathy, and self-awareness. The Jr. High also has groups that address a variety of topics like problem-solving, anger management, social skills, anxiety reduction, leadership, and emotional regulation. The Jr. High has also introduced the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) girl empowerment program and HOPE Squad (peer to peer suicide prevention program).
