Buckeye students may receive various levels of support from their school counselor, prevention counselor, social worker, teacher, administrator, or other staff members when in need.
Buckeye has made a concerted effort to provide mental health counseling through referral to their staff Social Workers, on-site Agency Mental Health Counselors or through providing outside referral sources. If you are concerned about your child needing additional services please contact your building counselor and they will direct you to one of these resources based on your need.
Support groups at Buckeye JH and HS are available to students throughout the school year. They may be referred for a group by a staff member or volunteer themselves. Groups are primarily informational offering coping skills, life skills, study skills, relationship skills, behavioral and anger management, etc. Please click here for the various groups offered. Elementary groups are set up through the building counselors as needed. Please contact them for more information and availability.

By acting as role models and presenting lessons designed to build resilience, increase self-esteem, and confidence, the High School HUDDLE leaders present alternatives to alcohol and other drug use for the elementary students. They also hope to help them make healthy decisions and avoid negative peer pressure.

High School students may apply in February for the following year's team
In 2019 our school implemented the SOS (Signs of Suicide) program. It is also now a state mandate through HB123. This is a suicide prevention program that educates students about the relationship between suicide and depression. We encourage all students to seek help from trusted adults whether they have concerns about themselves or a friend using the ACT® message (Acknowledge, Care, Tell). This program is currently being implemented yearly in our Jr. High in 8th grade & High School in 9th grade by our school counselors and social workers.

Buckeye is implementing a new program called HOPE Squad over the next year in the High School. Hope Squad is a school-based peer-to-peer, suicide prevention program for students. The goal of the program is: To improve mental health education while reducing stigma; Reach students in need quickly and intentionally; To normalize help-seeking for emotional distress;
Help facilitate access to care, allowing students to get the right help at the right time; To educate and engage parents in suicide prevention.
