Teen suicide is on the rise in our country. As a district, we have taken steps to educate and reduce the risk of suicide among our students with specific evidence-based programming. We provide the SOS (Signs of Suicide Program) in our 8th and 9th grades, Life Act comes in for our 7th and 10th graders to educate and teach students the importance of getting help when worried about themselves or a friend.
We received a grant from the ADAMH Board to implement a new program called Hope Squad. This is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program that we have begun, which will officially launch at the start of next school year.
