Cuba is an island nation in the Caribbean Sea. Cuba has an area of 109,884 km². Its area is 110,860 km² including coastal and territorial waters. Overall Cuba’s land is relatively flat, gradually flowing into hills, including some hills of limestone. Cuba’s coastal areas have the most mountains. Cuba has about 200 small rivers and the country's longest river is the Cauto.
Population
There are 11.48 million people that live in Cuba. Most of the people in Cuba are Spanish and African. The population has always increased in Cuba, with the exception of 2011 when the population decreased by 10,000 people. There are the most amount of people that are in their middle ages, but more women are in the middle ages than men
Tourism
Some popular places in Cuba are Havana, Varadero, and Trinidad. Cuba has many resorts in these places. Since Cuba has its favorable climate, beaches, colonial architecture, and distinct cultural history. Cuba has been an attractive destination for tourists for awhile.
Environment and Agriculture
All Cuban young people are introduced to agriculture and food production as part of their education. They spend at least one summer in their high school years farming on the countryside. Currently Havana alone has thousands of organic farms and there are over a million across the country.
Wildlife
Cuba has many different animals. One mammal is the West Indian Manatee and one bird is the Cuban Trogon. One of the fish that is in Cuba is the Cuban Gar and one reptile is the Cuban Boa. Cuba also has an endangered animal called the Cuban Solenodon. Cuba has some poisonous animals such as venomous snakes and animals such as alligators.
Arts, Culture, and Language
After the revolution in 1959, the Cuban art scene became somewhat divided. Some artists chose to leave the island and pursue their careers in exile, while others stayed in Cuba where art was sponsored by the government. Cuban music is a big part of their culture, their music is classical. Cuban dancing is also a big part of their culture. Few countries have had more influence on dance than Cuba. The language in Cuba is Spanish. Mostly everyone in Cuba speaks Spanish.
