Physical Geography

The Bahamas are a group of islands. Some of the islands are cays, or low, sandy islands, and some of the islands are atolls, or an island that circles around a lagoon.

The climate in the Bahamas is tropical.

Population

There are more than 390,000 people living in the Bahamas today. Their population is growing a little over time.

Tourism

Many people visit Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. There are many resorts to visit, as well as the Andros Barrier Reef and Thunderball Grotto, where some of the James Bond movies were filmed. The black-coral gardens are also a popular tourist attraction.

Farms in the Bahamas produce cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, and grapefruit.

Animals in the Bahamas include wild pigs, flamingos, and iguanas.

The people of the Bahamas speak English. Their culture is a mix of African, British, and indigenous cultures.
