Over the next four months, you will be learning information that will help to prepare you for the rest of your life. A very important part of learning this information is by engaging in reflections. These short essays are not simply a paragraphs of the information that you have learned, but are and explanation of how this information has or will impact you. To help you get a better idea of what the reflection process is, follow these steps:
- All great CALM reflections start with a KWL
- What do you KNOW about this topic already?
- What do you WANT TO LEARN on this topic?
- What did you LEARN about this topic?
- Reflection Time - There are many ways to do in a logical and sequential way.
- One way is to think about the following three questions
- What went well, with this activity and why do you think it went so well?
- What did not go well, and what were the contributing factors to is downfall?
- What would you do differently next time and why would you think this new way would improve on the overall performance/product?
- You can also record information on the following three categories:
- WHAT - Opening that contains a brief explanation of WHAT took place or WHAT the topic is. It should include your thesis statement.
- SO WHAT - Your body contains the information that support thesis statement and will describe how others have been impacted by the event that took place OR the topic you are referring to. It will also include how you have been impacted by this event or this topic.
- NOW WHAT - Closing that that wraps up your personal thoughts on the reflection process and provides the reader with how you may apply the information learned OR how you choose to move forward now that you have had this experience.
You will be marked on how well you prepare the above information, but you are REQUIRED to prepare your reflection using the following criteria:
You are expected to follow regular conventions in writing and attend to:
- Spelling
- Punctuation
- Capitalization
- Sentence Fluency
- 12 pt font
- Double spaces for Google Docs only
- Aesthetically please without distractions that may take away from the audience's ability to read and understand the material.
