Overview of Barrier: It is well known that stress and anxiety can adversely affect academic performance and achievement. Therefore, educators need to be highly conscientious of their students' social and emotional needs when shifting to and teaching in remote/hybrid environments and implement strategies to establish clear routines and expectations, provide scaffolds to support student self-regulation, and ensure students feel safe in their learning environment (Removing Barriers to Effective Distance Learning by Applying the High-Leverage Practices, 2020, p. 7).
