Ann Szymaniak is the owner/artistic director of The Dance Connection, a performing arts school established in 1982 in Binghamton, New York. Ann teaches classes for students added 3 to 85 in creative movement, tap, jazz, musical theater, yoga, and contemporary dance. Ann is currently a choreographer for theater groups, schools, and community events within the community as well as a third level Reiki Practitioner and certified Kripalu Yoga instructor. Ann is a highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic participant in all that she is engaged in. Health and wellness, both physically and spiritually are the most important priorities in Ann’s life. Ann has been bringing yoga and mindfulness workshops to students and staff at local school districts, UHS, Lourdes Hospice, and Albany YMCA programs for the past 5 years.
Ann’s workshops and monthly classes are designed to introduce the benefits of yoga, breathing meditations, and mindfulness. Research supports the positive effects of yoga and mindful living in the reduction of stress and anxiety, and these workshops and classes help to water the seeds of peace and stillness within the participants. Students and staff can all reap the benefits. Stress is a constant in our world, but the tools to navigating the external chaos lie in the wisdom of yoga and mindful living. Ann’s goal is that students learn to go inward to find that they are strong, they are bright, and there is a light within them, always!!
