Michelle Schleider is a representational artist who draws and paints portraits,
figures, florals, and travel-inspired works. She combines her strong foundation
in classical realism with a fresh, colorful style. Michelle has taught art to
students of all ages and believes everyone carries creativity within them,
ready to be released.
In this workshop, students will learn practical skills such as how to
see and draw proportions using simple measuring techniques, as well as how to
observe light, shadow, and edges when working from a live model or photograph.
Michelle encourages students to focus on capturing not only likeness but also
the unique spirit of the person they are drawing. She’s excited to share her
love of portrait drawing and help take the mystery out of the process.

In addition, this lesson will help students focus on lighting, value, and scale/ proportion. Students will sit with a live model and/or work from a mirror to create a self-portrait.
