Your Senior BRVGS Portfolio Website provides a detailed documentation of your entire BRVGS senior experience for teachers, fellow students, parents and evaluators at your presentation and at the Expo. Keeping the website up to date is critical throughout the course.
Your Senior Portfolio Website will be subject to multiple checkpoints throughout the course, and will be graded formally as a test grade in each of the 4 course Modules. Your site is also a part of your Senior Expo evaluation, and timely completion and extra effort on your Senior Portfolio Website may contribute to your Quality Points.
To create your site, Go to the Template Gallery of Google Sites (with your BRVGS account)
Click on the BRVGS Senior Project Template. This will allow you to create your own version.
The title of your website should be your first and last name - John Smith
Once your website has been created, be sure to click on the bold title, next to the BRVGS logo, that says "Senior Website Template" and change it to the same name as the step above.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you share and publish your site (and any items linked/embedded in it) correctly from the very beginning.
Click on the icon that looks like a person with a + symbol
Under "General Access" make sure the "Published Site" setting is set to "PUBLIC"
Click "Save/Done"
Click the big blue button in the upper right that say "Publish"
Make sure the "Web address" box has your web address as your first and last name with no spaces (ex johnsmith). *if you get an error message that says the url is not available, try adding your middle initial* (ex johngsmith).
Your url should look like https://sites.google.com/brvgs.k12.va.us/firstnamelastname (ex https://sites.google.com/brvgs.k12.va.us/johnsmith)
Make sure the "Who can view my site" item is set to "PUBLIC" for the Published Site (If your did the Sharing correctly above this should already be set)
Click "Publish"
***Be sure to click the "Publish" button in the upper right anytime you make changes to your site! Otherwise viewers will not see your updates and they will only be saved on the Draft version of your site.***
Once you have created and named your site, you will need to send the link to BRVGS by clicking on the Senior Project Site Information form and completing the information requested in that form.
If so you can actually edit any part of your submission to that website (change the link, title, etc). You need to: Search through your email for the receipt email with the subject "Senior Project Site Information". There is a link to update your entry in that email.
Prior to the end of the semester in which you have your BRVGS Senior Capstone class (or prior to the Senior Expo, whichever comes first), you will participate in a peer review, in which you will review another student's site against the rubric.
After your class has presented your Capstone Presentations at your school, Ms. Outten will email you a link to the recordings from the day. You will use that link and THESE directions to embedded the video starting at your timestamp
