In April of each year, all BRVGS seniors gather at a single location for the Senior Exposition to display exhibits of their Capstone Project in a science fair format.
Students should be prepared to greet visitors "professionally," give a quick overview of their experiences and to answer detailed questions regarding their learning.
Students will need to decorate a tri-fold display board (provided by BRVGS through your Senior Advisor) that clearly demonstrates their work and the knowledge they have gained from their senior experience. Required elements are as follows:
PLE - what, where, when, why
CSE - what, where, when, why
Research infographic
Overview/Summary - Their Why
Quote of Quality
QR code to their website
Pictures from experiences
In addition to the display board, they may include
a model
a running Power Point or video (providing the student can bring the equipment needed to show it)
something that they have built or created
a multimedia product, etc.
Regardless of display type, a visitor should be able to understand in a brief time period what you did for your PLE, research and community service without you having to be there explain it. If a student brings a product (ex. a robot or a craft product), they should make sure that their display explains that product clearly.
Each student will have approximately three feet of table space. You can see examples of student displays HERE
Students will be evaluated by adult judges and by selected peers. See the BRVGS Senior Exposition Rubric for more specific information regarding expectations and grading for the event.
Students must be dressed appropriately for a formal academic presentation. Students who are not properly dressed for the occasion or who have not successfully completed the basic requirements of the program prior to their school's presentation date will not be allowed to take part in the Expo, and will lose credit for the event. Senior Advisors and the BRVGS Director have the sole responsibility for making decisions regarding student dress. See the Senior Expo Dress Guidelines for more info.
