Today, the rosette widths were measured in millimeters and the urea solution was added to the experimental plants. Most of the mutants were either dead or very small. Emma was named the primary measurer to try and prevent error. Izzy put four drops of the urea solution into the four experimental pots.
To the left are pictures of the Arabidopsis plants on day 13 of the experiment. In each image, the top left plant is the wild type control, the bottom left plant is the wild type experimental, the top right plant is the mutant type control, and the bottom left is the mutant type experimental.
Today, the width of the rosettes and the height of the bolts were measured. There were two small bolts that were about a millimeter tall. The rosettes have gotten at least two or three times bigger in the wild type plants, but only 1.3 to 1.5 times taller for the mutant plants. One of the mutant's pots has white, mold-like growth around one side of the pot and a few other pots have the green fungus growth. It was noticed that the wild plants look slightly lighter in color than the mutant plants. The mutants are also visibly smaller than the wild types. There were some dead plants that were purple or yellow and noticeably smaller in size.
Today, the bolt height and rosette width was measured. The mutants grew slightly bigger, but the wild types got at least 32 times bigger. The wild type bolt heights were significantly taller than the others. The plants were treated with the urea solution, 4 drops were put in each experimental pot. As a class, it was observed that there were white spots growing in the solution.
