The Italian Renaissance was a period of time with many innovations and inventions. Between the fourteenth and seventeenth century, art, culture, and economics were completely changed in the Italian Peninsula.
The Italian Renaissance began in Florence, Italy on the Italian Peninsula. During the Italian Renaissance, Florence was the closest thing to a political capital, since they did not have a unified political capital until the 19th century. Before the Italian Renaissance, events like the Fall of the Roman Empire, the Black Death, and the Crusades greatly impacted Italy. Many new inventions and ideas arose from the time of the Renaissance. Art was a major aspect of the time period. Some of the most renowned artists and admired pieces were a product of the Renaissance. Techniques and concepts developed during that time, such as perspective, changed art forever. There were many other inventions that transformed different areas. The rise of credit and banking influenced the economy of the Italian Peninsula. The invention of the barometer and the microscope opened new opportunities for the field of science. The musket changed the weapon industry and warfare. The telescope developed peoples knowledge of the solar system. Venetian glass granted a more luxurious lifestyle, especially for wealthy people. These are just a few of the impactful inventions that arose from the Italian Renaissance.

Two examples that are presented in this exhibit are jewelry and vases. Paintings that present Venetian glass will also be shown, along with other items.
