The Italian musket sometimes known as the heavy arquebus, which later developed into more advanced styles of the musket, was originally produced by the Duchy of Milan; specifically the Brescian region(cir. 1520) they weren't used until the late 1530's in the Italian war of 1536.

The musket was made in Brescia specifically near the Valle Trompia where they had buildings where they would build weapons to use in future wars and battles. They made their own form of the musket after the Ottoman Turks used an early version(cir. 1425). The Ottoman musket, or Arquebus as it was called, appeared in the 15th century and were originally weapons mounted on walls of cities, which was very prevalent in Germany, but eventually developed into a handheld rifle. The Italians developed the Heavy Arquebus or the musket to better penetrate armor, the rifles were very quickly adopted by other nations too.
