Irrigation is the solution for Egypt's lack of water problem. Egypt only gets about eight inches of rain per year. Even though it was early evolved, it was simple. The irrigation system was powered by the Nile river. The Nile river is groundwater-dependent. The Upper Nile river is the largest river in Ethiopia in terms of volume discharge. The Nile flows for 6,700 kilometers. The Nile goes through ten countries, one of those ten being Egypt. The Nile river discharges into the Mediterranean Sea.

Not only does irrigation have an important role in agriculture but the different canals. Irrigation is made up of three different canals. First is the main canal. Next is the branch level canal. The last part is the on-farm canal. Each part of the canals have a unique job to make sure the crops get water. Without the different levels of the canals the irrigation process would not work.
Irrigation is a simple but unique process. For irrigation to work the rain will raise the water causing it to flood the river. After that it flowed on and to inundate the flood-plain. With this tool the Egyptians are able to water their crops and don't have to rely on the rain. Their crops can get water 24/7 and they are able to control how much water their crops get.

Since Egypt is located in a dry environment, vegetarian water requirements represent a large but important part of the total water consumption. The more people that come into Egypt the more water they need. Without irrigation the Egyptians would not have the water they needed to thrive.
Without the help of irrigation the Egyptians due to lack of rainfall had to rely on the Nile river. To get this water to them and their crops they developed irrigation.
