Homework (Silver Folder)

The first grade team plans to send home assignments every weeknight except for Fridays. The homework is consistent with in-class learning and it meant to reinforce concepts taught in class and to help your child develop a consistent homework routine. It is not intended to keep your child busy for several hours each evening. Homework worksheets will change every day including spelling, math, science, handwriting, and phonics. If you would like more homework please feel free to supplement any of the skills at home.

Reading for 20 minutes a day is also required. Reading can be done with a grown-up, sibling, or independently.

Homework is assigned daily in the silver homework folder and is to be returned the following morning. If a child is absent, missing work will be collected at school and students have that many days to complete it. For example, a student who is sick for two days will have two days to make up missing work (including class assignments). There will be no homework given on Fridays or the weekends; however I still encourage you to read with your child these days.

Friday Folder (Blue Folder)

Friday Folders are sent home and are to be returned Monday mornings. Please keep any paperwork in the “Leave at Home” pocket, and return to school anything in the “Return” pocket. Thank you to our volunteers!
